How Date/Time sorting exactly works in Adobe Photoshop Elements Organizer

Although sorting on the basis of Date/Time is quite clear to many folks who are regular users of Elements Organizer, but I have seen few people who gets confused about the sorting behavior  of photographs in image-well !! Let me share some basics of these sorting and how they can be handled through preferences.

In Elements Organizer, we have two sorting mechanisms on the basis of Date/Time :

1. Date (Newest First) -  Recently clicked photographs will be shown on the top of organizer and bottom will have oldest ones. E.g.- Photographs clicked on 1st Jan 2011 will be shown above the photographs clicked on 15th Jan 2011.
2. Date (Oldest First) - Recently clicked photographs will be shown in the bottom of organizer and top will have oldest ones. E.g.- Photographs clicked on 1st Jan 2011 will be shown below the photographs clicked on 15th Jan 2011.

*** If we have multiple photographs from single day, time is used to sort the files and following preferences govern this. This one confuses most of the times...

This one confuses most of the times... By default, Date(Newest First) is selected in organizer with ‘Show Oldest First within Each day’ and this gives a very valid reason for users to get confused as they would not be aware of such preferences and everyone would expect the photographs in a way that recently clicked photograph should come on the top. This effectively means that if you have photographs from a two days event, you will see photographs from morning of second day on the top and evening of first day in the bottom. Please have a look if this is what you are seeing in your organizer or not.Hope these details would help in making best use of Organizer for sorting media inside it and using accordingly !!! Leave comments with your opinion about this behavior and what was more confusing for you?
